Our Calendar

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Announcement: In consideration of the health concerns surrounding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the IA, NE, and SD Conferences and the national setting of the UCC recommend that in-person, large group events be canceled and postponed for the time being. If you make any changes to your event please contact Aidan Spencer at aidan@ucctcm.org. At the recommendation of UCC HR, your conference staff may not be attending events in their regular capacity for their own health and the health of others.

POSTPONED – Iowa Conference Annual Meeting 2020 @ West Des Moines Christian Church
Jun 19 – Jun 21 all-day

For the safety and wellbeing of our congregations and communities in the midst of this ever-changing pandemic, all three of our conferences have decided to postpone annual meetings until the Fall. We are disappointed not to be seeing each other in June and we look forward to a time when we can gather together safely, celebrate our community, support those who have suffered greatly, and grieve for those we have lost during this pandemic. The Iowa Conference has decided to host their annual meeting jointly with the Nebraska Conference on October 17th, 2020 as an entirely digital event.

Brave Space: Open Conversations about Whiteness and White Privilege Today @ Zoom
Jun 30 @ 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
All people in the Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota Conferences are invited to join Rev. Diane Schmitz for conversation. Rev. Diane is an ordained UCC minister and her work focuses on racial equity work with predominantly white churches, schools, and organizations. She will be hosting Brave Space* particularly for white people in our conferences to process, ask questions, and openly dialogue about the events that have been unfolding in our country and why. She’ll help raise up conversation and ideas that address how race shows up at personal, interpersonal, institutional and cultural levels and how we all are called to recognize and interrupt racism.

*Brave spaces invite participants to summon the courage to be authentic, speak openly, take risks, explore, experiment, learn, and change. Brave spaces are created by commitments to stay engaged, to not shy away from the discomfort real learning and growth may require, and to be open to letting go of previous ways of understanding. Brave spaces are not “safe”; they can be challenging. And, they are a needed part of transformational work.

Tuesdays at 12:00pm until 1:30pm CT from June 30th through July 21st.
