Ames UCC in Ames, IA is excited to be hosting the Theologian in Residence 2021 program! The online event will take place on the weekend of September 18th from 9:00am-12:00pm CT on Saturday and 9:00am-11:45am CT on Sunday. People from all three of our Conferences are invited to attend.

Dr. Karen King, Professor at Harvard Divinity School, relates Gospel narratives and early church history’s confrontation with evil to today’s world events. Two Saturday morning sessions, offered remotely, are: “Jesus’ Crucifixion: Martyrdom and U.S. Lynching” and “The Gospel of Mary Reads the Gospel of John: The Spiritual Life as Ascent to God.” Sunday morning begins with a webinar, “The Third Life of Mary Magdalene,” and includes Dr. King preaching the sermon of the 10:30am worship service.

To see the program and register, go to AmesUCC.org and select Theologian in Residence from the top menu choices. The event is free, but donations are appreciated.
