SUMMARY:UCC History\, Polity\, and Theology Course with the IN-KT Conference
DESCRIPTION:This online United Church of Christ (UCC) History\, Polity\, and Theology course is six weeks in duration based on the Marks of Faithful and Effective Authorized Ministers (The Marks). It is designed as a self-paced course in a shared learning community with other students (At anytime\, this course is available as an independent study). \nThis course fulfills the “Essential Elements” guideline of the UCC History and Polity Teachers’ Network. SUMMARY:Re-imagining for Tomorrow: Building the Future for Our Youth
DESCRIPTION:During the Covid-19 pandemic\, challenges have arisen for the Church at all levels. We are adjusting to the new normal that has grown from the last two years and are continuing to be faithful in being what and who God has called us to be. \nThe Faith INFO team believes that this is an opportunity for us to evaluate many of the ways we have gathered traditionally and offer new ways of being the church. To that end\, we are taking a close look at the youth ministry and National Youth Event to support the changes\, desires and call of young people today. Over two days\, 100 youth ministers and leaders will gather virtually to reimagine youth ministry and present clear guidelines for what is needed post covid. Additionally\, we are asking anyone who has regular contact with youth in the United Church of Christ to complete a short survey to provide additional insight to the Faith INFO team and national setting. \nYour responses are greatly appreciated. \nThe link is embedded above\, but in case it doesn’t work or needs to be displayed\, it is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Youth_Min2022 \nRegistration is free for all to attend! Learn more on the registration page.

SUMMARY:Bracke Public Lecture on Ministry: The Intersections of Black Liberation and Disability Justice
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Ewell advocates for people to realize their power and apprehend their life goals. He gives talks across the country on Disability Advocacy and Awareness\, The Disability Rights Movement\, The Intersections of Religion and Disability\, and The Intersectionality of Disability and Black Theology. This lecture is apart of the Progressive Christian Leadership (PCL) course and the public is welcome to attend on Tuesday\, February 15th from 6:30-7:30pm CT. It will be hosted both in-person and online. Visit their website to register for the livestream. Thank you for helping keep everyone safe.\n\n\n\n\n\nOrdained in the Missouri Conference of The United Methodist Church\, The Reverend H. Russell Ewell II currently serves as The Pastor of Terrace Lake United Methodist Church (Kansas City MO). Additionally\, he is the Chair Emeritus of The United Methodist Association of Ministers with Disabilities\, and serves as a board member of Missouri Faith Voices. As a person with a disability in pre- ADA America\, his personal and systems advocacy skills began to develop the day his parents enrolled him in kindergarten. There\, ophthalmologists and educators forewarned\, “Blind students could not succeed in integrated classrooms.” So “don’t bother dreaming of one day seeing your son graduate from high school with a diploma.” Proving conventional wisdom wrong\, Russell graduated from Normandy Sr. High (St. Louis MO) and earned a B.S. in Sociology from Southern Illinois University (Edwardsville). In 2009 he distinguished himself by becoming the first blind student to graduate from Eden Theological Seminary in its 168-year history. He also has the distinction of being the first blind person to be ordained in The Missouri Conference of the United Methodist Church. Rev. Ewell advocates for people to realize their power and apprehend their life goals. He gives talks across the country on Disability Advocacy and Awareness\, The Disability Rights Movement\, The Intersections of Religion and Disability\, and The Intersectionality of Disability and Black Theology. Russell is a tireless advocate for a more liberating and inclusive theology of disability. He is passionate about empowering the disenfranchised and assisting all people in realizing their potential\, purpose\, and worth in The Church and society. Rev. Ewell is the proud husband of The Reverend Adrienne Denson Ewell.

SUMMARY:Contemplative Practices for Lent
DESCRIPTION:Lent is a season of helping our congregations look inward and opening to God’s extravagant love. As we encourage our congregations to do this\, we must\, ourselves be nourished spiritually. “Contemplative Practices for Lent” is space offered in community for us to practice one aspect of what we preach in this season. For the Lenten series\, we will be using music as our tool for contemplative prayer.\n\nThese gatherings will be hosted by ACM Rev. Kendy Miller on Mondays in Lent\, February 28th through April 11th\, from 8:00-9:00am CT (specific dates are Feb. 28; Mar. 7\, 14\, 21\, and 28; and Apr. 4 and 11). Please join her practicing contemplative prayer so that our actions of justice may stem from the root of Christ’s love.\n\nThe event is free and is open to clergy and christian educators in the UCC. You will receive the Zoom information after registering. Questions about the event? Contact Rev. Miller. Questions about registration? Contact Aidan Spencer.
