Plymouth Church in Des Moines, IA has been engaging in rich conversations around diversity and race to better understand anti-racism as a spiritual practice. To further these conversations, Plymouth is offering the church and broader community an opportunity to learn more about the 1619 Project, an examination of how the legacy of slavery continues to shape our country.
Sessions will begin on January 24th, 2022 and run weekly on Mondays until March 7th (excluding February 14th) from 6:30pm to 8:15pm CT. The sessions are free, register by January 10th to secure your spot!
All sessions will be live online experiences via Zoom and will be recorded for autonomous viewing. Participants can expect to read the 1619 Project essays published in The New York Times, listen to podcasts and musical performances, watch videos, learn from speakers, and engage in small-group discussions.
