Welcome to the Conference

The Iowa Conference is a place that puts faith into action. We embody justice, mercy and loving kindenss through our celebrations, faithful transformations and the ways in which we honor others’ stories. We take pride in creating safe space, ensuring the emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of all.

Outdoor Ministries – Camp Pilgrim Heights

Pilgrim Heights is a Christian-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit camp and retreat center located in central Iowa between Marshalltown and Tama/Toledo. Founded in 1954 as a church camp owned and run by the United Church of Christ, Pilgrim Heights has served generations of campers seeking connection, faith, and time in the outdoors.

In 2007, the organization transitioned into the nonprofit you see today, expanding its mission beyond a traditional church camp. While our roots remain Christian, Pilgrim Heights now welcomes church groups of all denominations, schools, nonprofits, families, and individuals of all backgrounds who are looking for a peaceful place to gather, learn, and retreat.

Our primary focus is hosting our seasonal camps and programs, especially our summer youth camps, while also making our facilities available year-round for retreats, reunions, and group events. Guests may also enjoy individual cabin stays and time in nature.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of Iowa, Pilgrim Heights offers a setting designed for rest, reflection, community, and outdoor experiences. Our goal is to provide a place where people can step away from the pace of everyday life and reconnect—with nature, with others, and with what matters most.
