Conference Book Read: A Beautiful Constraint
February 2 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm CST
An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Thursday, happening 6 times
Come one come all to the Conference Book Read! Whether you’re a church leader or a congregant, Interim ECM Rev. Phil Hart invites you to join him on Zoom on Thursday evenings starting January 5th to take a closer look at A Beautiful Constraint: How to Transform Your Limitation Into Advantages and Why It’s Everyone’s Business by Adam Morgan and Mark Barden.
Each evening will have stand-alone information and discussion, so if you need to miss a session or two it’s easy to jump back in and there’s no registration. Just join using the Zoom information below! We will meet for 6 weeks starting at 7:00pm CT / 6:00pm MT and finish up in an hour or less. The specific dates for the sessions are as follows: January 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th and February 2nd and 9th. From the back cover: “A Beautiful Constraint provides simple and practical tools to help almost anyone use constraints as a source of inspiration rather than asphyxiation.”
Each participant will be responsible for getting their own copy and we will read the introduction and chapter one for the first session.
We hope you’ll join us for this book read, we think it’ll be a helpful book for all readers!
Need some more enticing? Here‘s an excerpt from page two:
“Constraints have a bad rap. Constraint is, by definition, a negative thing. Its imposition prevents us from acting as we would like to, because it restricts us in some important way. Constraints hold us down, knock us back, make us fail. ‘Don’t fence me in,’ the old song says: if you want me to show what I can do, then leave me unconstrained. This book’s aim is to show how and why the opposite is true. How constraints can be fertile, enabling, and desirable. Why they are catalytic forces that stimulate exciting new approaches and possibilities. How they can, in fact, make us more than we were, rather than less than we could be. Why we should see in them beauty, rather than the beast, and why that is more important now than ever.”
