Ordination Ceremony for Henry W. Morisada Rietz

We rejoice! Grinnell United Church of Christ Congregational calls Henry W. Morisada Rietz in a covenantal relationship as an associate pastor and authorized minister of Word and Sacrament. Please celebrate with us! A reception will follow the ordination ceremony. All clergy are asked to wear red vestments; for Pentecost, non-clergy are also invited to wear red.

Henry W. Morisada Rietz: Henry journey to ordination has been a long one. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai`i, he first came to Iowa as an undergraduate student at Grinnell College in 1985 and it was during that time that he began to wrestle with questions of his calling. He earned his M.Div. and then Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Princeton Theological Seminary. After he had completed his coursework, he joined Nu`uanu Congregational Church in Honolulu and first came under care of the O`ahu Association of the Hawai`i Conference in 1996. In 1998, he returned to Grinnell, where he has been teaching religious studies at the College and an active member of the Grinnell United Church of Christ-Congregational. From 2005-2009, he taught in the Iowa Conference’s CENTER/LEARN Program and then later in the Dewitt Theological Academy. He has been a member-in-discernment and under care of the Central Association since 2005 and was licensed in 2013.
